The side channel pump is of sectional construction with the intermediate sections arranged between the suction and discharge covers and fastened by means of tie bolts running between covers.
The number of sections or stages varies directly by the total head requirements. The maximum pressure, which can be reached per stage, is many times greater than that of a normal centrifugal pump of the same size and speed. The vapor handling capability of the pump is exceptional. The unique lateral channel design permits the impellers to float, reducing wear and eliminating end thrust on bearings while maintaining radial and axial balance.
